Changes in the Children Waiting Child Program

Posted by info@aacadoption.com on 4/9/2010

There have been allot of changes recently with our China Waiting Child Program.  All agencies have been affected by several new policies made by CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs).

One of the biggest changes is that CCAA will no longer be issuing "individual lists" of children to any agency.  All waiting children's files will be placed on the "shared list".   This will give children maximum exposure and more of a chance to find a family quickly.  There are currently over 1,500 children listed on the shared list.  In effort to advocate for these children AAC will be listing a few of them on www.rainbowkids.org.  Please check out this site.  Maybe the child who is waiting for you is listed there.

Another new policy set by CCAA is that any newly released children may only be matched with families who have a dossier logged in.  This is to ensure that children are matched with families who are committed and can bring them home quickly.  Many of the young children with minor special needs are matched with families right away.  What this means for families looking to adopt a child of that type is that they must now commit to an agency and complete their homestudy and dossier process before identifying a child.

Please feel free to contact AAC with any questions you have about adopting a waiting child or for more information on the children listed on Rainbow Kids.
